The Sound Behind the Music

Founder of RoboticInk Studio & Producer of Atmospheric Instrumental Soundscapes

Rolando Robinson Jr., known professionally as Rolgunz, is an American music producer, audio engineer, composer, author, and the founder of RoboticInk Studio. Operating at the direct crossroads of cinematic audio production, hybrid sound design, and narrative fiction, he builds multi-layered sonic worlds and high-tension literature tailored for global digital streaming, broadcast sync licensing, and independent publishing.

Raised in Takoma Park, Maryland, within the vibrant cultural landscape of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Rolgunz began his musical journey behind the drum kit at age 12, anchoring rhythm sections at Calvary Life Baptist Church. This early gospel immersion instilled a rigorous discipline around pocket, syncopation, and live dynamics. By high school, he expanded his performance repertoire to the piano, deepening his grasp of harmonic movement, chord voicing, and emotional tension—elements that later became central to his production signature.

Rolgunz originally pursued formal higher education in audio engineering, mastering signal routing, acoustic principles, and precision studio mixing. When family circumstances called him home, he put his academic tenure on hold to serve as the primary caregiver for his ailing father until his passing in 2012. Translating personal loss into unrelenting creative focus, he returned to the boards with renewed intent. He partnered closely with his late childhood friend and indie recording artist DoeBoi Magic (Bernard Baker Jr.), taking the helm as lead engineer on the regional milestone Small City Big Dream (2016) and its sequel, Small City Big Dreams 2 (2020), cementing his reputation for polished low-end balance and gritty vocal clarity.

From his private production hub at RoboticInk Studio, Rolgunz crafts a distinctive sonic footprint defined by Cloud Trap, atmospheric instrumental hip-hop, and futuristic soundscapes. Driven by a hybrid workflow uniting FL Studio precision engineering with next-generation generative sound design, his releases bridge heavy 808 foundations with cinematic synth textures and haunting melodies. His catalog features landmark releases including the multi-volume Beats for Ages instrumental series—highlighted by Millennial Dreams (Vol. 5), Chronicle Glitch (Vol. 6), and the prelude EP Unbroken Sight leading into the full-length Symphony of the Bando (Vol. 7). Expanding his production canvas, he also created and produces for the virtual vocal persona KHAI-RO, uniting hard-hitting urban drum patterns with emotive vocal hooks.

Parallel to his work behind the mixing console, Rolgunz applies the same rhythmic pacing and architectural tension to contemporary literature under his legal name, Rolando Robinson Jr. His debut corporate thriller novel, The Paper Trail, immerses readers in high-stakes corporate espionage, forensic balance sheets, and boardroom betrayal. He expanded this narrative world into a complete cross-media experience by releasing a companion cinematic hip-hop album featuring KHAI-RO, directly scoring the psychological arc of his characters.

Today, all compositions, masters, and creative releases are registered with BMI and administered through RoboticInk Studio, which serves as a verified, one-stop catalog for film, television, gaming sync placements, and direct licensing. Through RoboticInkStudio.com, Rolgunz continues to push the boundaries of independent multimedia ownership, building an expansive bridge between sound, story, and digital art.
